It semms this reporter got some facts incorect from the one of the team captians. Jay leadbeater was not the lossing pitcher. Jay was pulled in the 6th inning with the lead for a reliever Fire Police Luitenit Jerry Wagner. So Jay receives a no decision and Jerry is the lossing pitcher. Also Harry has made a quick recovery and is back in the lie up.
The Wissahickon Fire Company held its annual intercompany soft ball game Monday 6/25/12 at the Wissahickon High School athletic field. The game was close until the last 2 inning when the A-Team pulled ahead and beat the b-team 16 to 12. The winning pitcher was President Bob Gilman and the losing pitcher was Assistant Chief Jay Leadbeater. One notable injury was Harry Altman who was placed on the 15 day disabled list.
Prior to the game long time fire fighter and local candy business owner Jack Asher was presented with a plaque of appreciation from President Gilman and Fire Chief John Leadbeater, for his continued support of the Wissahickon Fire Company with his donation of the candy canes for the fire companies annual Santa Run. Jack was a member of Wissahickon Fire Co. for 14 and 1/2 years and a member of the Flourtown Fire Co. for 21 years prior to joining Wissahickon. We thank Jack for his years of service to both companies and his continued support. Jack spoke to the members stating that the 35 years of Volunteer Service with both fire companies was the best thing he had ever done and enjoyed every minute of it.
Picture to come soon.
